The United States Department of Labor, the Chicagoland Chamber of Commerce, the Social Security Administration, and Illinois Department of Commerce and Economic Opportunity have established the Disability Program Navigator initiative to inform and work with employers, service providers, and people with disabilities in a number of ways.

Rock River Training Corporation utilizes the Disability Resource Coordinator, who is employed by the disabilityworks program and housed at the Rockford One Stop Center, as a system change agent who advocates for adults and youth with disabilities who choose to work. The goal of the Disability Resource Coordinator is to help the disabled to maximize their economic self-sufficiency through employment.

Disability Resource Coordinators are located throughout Illinois and help promote comprehensive One Stop Center services by breaking down barriers that keep people with disabilities from finding jobs. The disabilityworks initiative works directly with employers to meet labor market demands. Through employer education and job matching, employers can find the right employee for the right job. Through information and referral, people with disabilities can find the right kind of job training or job placement program.

Rock River Training is an equal opportunity employer and complies with all state and federal nondiscrimination laws in the administration of its programs, and requires the same of all program service providers.

Program funds are provided through a contract with Rock River Training Corporation and by the Illinois Department of Commerce and Economic Opportunity and the U.S. Department of Labor. Auxiliary aids and services are available upon request to individuals with disabilities.

All programs are subject to the provisions of the "Jobs For Veterans Act" Public Law 107-288 which provides priority of service to veterans and spouses of certain veterans. Contact the WIA Equal Employment Opportunity Officer at (815) 547-9616 or TTY (815) 547-0253.
